Jesus
Christ is the Light of the world
This
passage starts out explaining that a man was sent from God whose name was John.
He was a man to bear witness of the Light that all men through Him might
believe in Jesus Christ. He was not the Light (Jesus Christ) but was sent to
bear witness of that Light. Anyone that comes into this world needs to
understand that there is only one Person that can grace them with true Light
and His name is Jesus Christ. We already went over Creation but now the setting
is Jesus Christ is in the world and then the last part of verse ten says,
"And the world knew Him not."
(6)
"There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. (7) The same came for
a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through Him might
believe. (8) He was not the Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
(9) That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the
world. (10) He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world
knew Him not." John 1: 5 - 10.
We
as a blog have to implement a new turn on how we present articles. There are
enough people that do not have the time to read a long writing so the articles
will be shorter but there will be more posts on the blog.
Verse
six is very simple. There was a man sent by God whose name was John. Verse
seven gets far more specific. This verse describes the office and business of
John. The tone of the earthly atmosphere was silence. When John the Baptist
came along he was bearing witness to the Light who is Jesus Christ. The Light
of Jesus Christ does not need the testimony of a person; however, the darkness
of the world does need this witness. If you are shy in presenting Jesus
Christ to other people just remember what I just said regarding light and
darkness. The night watch person needs to proclaim the approach of the morning.
John the Baptist was very careful to point to Jesus Christ. He understood that
the witness of God was far greater than him. This is what verse eight says in
John chapter one.
The
star gathered the wise men to Jesus Christ and John also did the same thing.
That is what we are to be doing in life. The greatest ministers are they who
point to Jesus Christ. These are the true servants of our Savior and Lord.
Jesus
Christ is the true Light and we only have light in the natural (Creation) or
the supernatural (Salvation). John the Baptist was limited to Jerusalem and Judaea
but the Son of God gives Light to anyone who desires this in the world.
When
verse ten says He was in the world we need to remember Jesus Christ left glory
in heaven. To add insult to injury the world is miserable. When we complain we
need to remind ourselves that Jesus Christ was once in this world under the
worst of circumstances. Jesus Christ Created the world and then came to save
a lost world that He Created.
And
the world knew Him not. They are the very last words in this passage I am going
over with an internet audience. The bottom line is we are either going to know
Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord or we are going to know Jesus Christ as our
Judge. The choice is up to us so we best make the wise decision of knowing
Him. Repenting of all our sins and inviting the Lord into our life sounds way
better than being judged by Him because of our self will. Choose the will of
God.
God
bless you,
