King
of Kings and Lord of Lords
Hi
good friends out there in internet land. I have reviewed the first eight
chapters in the book of Revelation in a very detailed way giving the readers
many cross references to each verse but due to time and the fact that I must
move on to other writing projects in the Bible the remaining chapters
(Revelation chapters 9-22) will be completely quoted with some comments at the
end of the chapter. I really do desire to cross reference every verse in these
chapters but this would take me way to long thus leaving out other vital
biblical studies that are also needed and desired to people that are very
hungry for the word of God. There will still be many interesting insights after
the chapter is quoted so please enjoy the rest of the study in this fascinating
last book of the Bible.>
(1)
"And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven,
saying, Al - le - lu'ia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the
Lord our God. (2) For true and righteous are His judgments: for He hath judged
the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornications, and hath
avenged the blood of His servants at her hand. (3) And again they said, Al - le
- lu'ia. And her smoke rose up for ever and ever. (4) And the four and twenty
elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne,
saying, Amen; Al - le - lu'ia. (5) And a voice came out of the throne, saying,
Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and
great. (6) And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the
voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Al - le -
lu'ia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. (7) Let us be glad and rejoice,
and give honour to Him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath
made herself ready. (8) And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in
fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.
(9) And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the
marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings
of God. (10) And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See
thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the
testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of
prophecy. (11) And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and He
that sat upon it was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He doth
judge and make war. (12) His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on His head were
many crowns; and He had a name written, that no man knew, but He Himself. (13)
And He was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and His name is called The
Word of God. (14) And the armies which were in heaven followed Him upon white horses,
clothed in fine linen, white and clean. (15) And out of His mouth goeth a sharp
sword, that with it He should smite the nations: and He shall rule them with a
rod of iron: and He treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of
Almighty God. (16) And He hath on His vesture and on His thigh a name written,
KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. (17) And I saw an angel standing in the sun;
and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst
of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great
God; (18) That ye may eat of the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty
men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of
all men, both free and bond, both small and great. (19) And I saw the beast,
and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war
against Him that sat on the horse, and against His army. (20) And the beast was
taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with
which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that
worship his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with
brimstone. (21) And the remnant were slain with the sword of Him that sat upon
the horse, which sword proceeded out of His mouth; and all the fowls were
filled with their flesh." Revelation 19: 1 - 21.
There
seems to be three contrasts of righteousness in comparison to evil in this
chapter and this should not surprise us because the culmination of Jesus Christ
cleansing the earth is coming to a close. All of the manipulations of man will
soon be finished as the Son of God takes action against evil.
There
are two suppers. The first is pure with joy as Jesus Christ takes His precious
bride with Him. On the other hand vultures have a feast when they fly down from
the sky to eat the dead bodies on planet earth. I had my own experience with
vultures. I was working outside in my job and there was some dead animal near
my truck. I was extremely busy and did not have the time to pay to much
attention to the situation. I had the back of my truck open and was very intent
on looking into the contents of the inside of the vehicle so I could start my
job. After a couple of minutes I turned around and was facing the reality of
being surrounded by vultures in a circle. They were very ugly and I was scared.
I had to do something so I walked very slow and quiet to get out of the
situation. They let me go with no resistance because all they cared about was
the dead animal. The vultures had no interest in the living. Can you imagine
the amount of vultures after the battle of Armageddon?
The
second contrast is there is much praise regarding the righteous judgments of
God among the Godly but the response is completely different at the end of the
battle of Armageddon when the ungodly actually take out their guns and try to
stop the King of kings and Lord of Lords. What a ridiculous plan but if people
are not with Jesus Christ they are against Him. They can try and fight The All
Powerful God of the universe but then again they never acknowledged Jesus
Christ as the All Powerful God of the universe so they will be left to their
foolish devices and it will be an exercise in futility.
The
third contrast is when the righteous enter heaven they receive a robe of white
linen but the unbelievers on earth who fight Jesus Christ in defiance and
desperation get punished.
The
earth at this future point is on the verge of self - annihilation from a human
point of view but the paradigm of heaven is different because it is the
beginning of the end for human suffering. Revelation chapter nineteen takes
place after Revelation chapter sixteen is finished. At this point everybody in
heaven will be getting very excited because hallelujah songs will be sung by
everyone (angels, Old Testament saints, tribulation saints and church age
saints). As people on earth call their plight unjust and curse God the redeemed
praise the Triune Godhead for their glory and power but specifically for the
righteous judgment of God. There will be five praise songs extoling the virtues
of Jesus Christ as their Creator and Judge.
Jesus
Christ purchased the title dead of the earth when He died on the cross but it
will not be exercised until He takes rulership of planet earth at His second
coming.
At
the rapture of the church the bridegroom (Jesus Christ) came for His beloved
bride (the Christians that went up in the rapture) but at the second coming we
go back down to earth with Jesus Christ. I have listened to theologians that
were just incredible with the word of God and yet most of them can not figure
out this basic principle in the Bible. If we are wise virgins we go up and
approximately seven years later we go back down to earth with Jesus Christ.
This is not to say that some of us may have assignments in heaven during the
1000 year millennial rule and reign with Jesus Christ but the basic principle
has always been in the Bible. If we are assigned to earth we will be immortal
beings.
Some
may ask when will the marriage supper of the Lamb will be and I would respond
this is conjecture. Some believe this will happen in heaven during the seven
year tribulation period and some believe this will happen in the millennial
reign. We will have a wedding garment symbolizing the righteous deeds of the
believers while they lived on earth. We are probably preparing our garments now
as we live for Jesus Christ while we are on earth before the rapture of the
church. Notice the angel refused worship because only the Triune Godhead is worthy
of worship.
The
return of Jesus Christ to planet earth is so important that it is mentioned in
one out of twenty five verses in the New Testament. When Jesus physically left
this earth in His accention in the book of Acts two angels told the onlookers that
He would come back the same way the risen Son of God left which was and will be
bodily, physically and visibly. When Jesus Christ comes back it will be at the
Mount of Olives according to Zecharaiah chapter fourteen and will split it in
two at the moment when the foot of Jesus Christ touches the structure by an
earthquake.
Here
are two verses that say the whole world will see the scars from the crucifixion
of Jesus Christ when He returns to earth (Zecharaiah 12:10 and Revelation 1:7).
At this point Jesus Christ is not portrayed as the Lamb of God. He will be the
Righteous Judge. The Son of God will wear the many crowns of His royal and
divine titles. His clothing will be stained with the blood of His enemies
according to Isaiah 63: 1 - 4.
In
Revelation 19:13 Jesus Christ is titled as The Word of God because He is the
visible expression of the invisible God. At the rapture only believers in
Christ will see Him in heaven but at the second coming every eye will see the
true Messiah who is Jesus Christ. He destroys all His enemies with a sword in
His mouth. He will come as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
I
suppose the armies of the earth forget they are enemies with each other and
join forces to battle Jesus Christ Himself. The antichrist and false prophet
are immediately judged and thrown into the Lake of Fire while they are still
alive on earth. Jesus Christ then judges those still alive who have rejected
Him. This judgment is elaborated in Matthew 25: 31 - 46. Those that are
appraised as righteous will go into the millennial reign of Jesus Christ as
mortals and repopulate the earth. The ungodly will unfortunately be cast into
hell.
If
you do not know the Lord now would be a good time to accept Jesus Christ into
your heart as personal Savior and Lord by repenting of all your sins and
inviting the Lord into your life. This is the best decision you will ever make
for your life and eternity. As you can see through this commentary on the book
of Revelation the disobedient against God do not win. Only the righteous
through Jesus Christ spend eternity with
Him.
God bless you -- Bob D.
